LIVERPOOL STAR PHILIPPE COUTINHO TO MOVE TO BARCELONA

LIVERPOOL star Philippe Coutinho has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, according to stunning reports in Spain.

Barcelona have long harboured hope of luring Philippe Coutinho away from Liverpool and they are agreements away from achieving their objective.

The Catalan giants have in the recent weeks stepped up their efforts to sign the Brazil international.

Barcelona are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for club captain Andres Iniesta, whose contract at the Nou Camp expires next summer.

They have been courting Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti but the Ligue 1 giants' interest in Neymar has complicated the situation.

As a result, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has been forced to turn his attentions to the Premier League.

Liverpool rejected a £72m offer last week with Jurgen Klopp insisting he will be keeping his star man at Anfield next season.

But, according to RAC1 and Mundo Deportivo, Coutinho has already held talks over a potential contract with Barca – and agreed in principle to terms.

That leaves the Catalan giants free to thrash out a transfer fee with the Reds.

Barca chiefs were in London earlier this week to talk to Liverpool officials and representatives of the Brazilian.

But after the initial offer was rejected, Liverpool appear to be holding out for £89m.

Coutinho has been in the Far East on Liverpool’s pre-season tour, with Klopp’s men now heading to Germany for another four games.

And Radio Catalunya also reported Coutinho had  agreed terms with Barcelona.

The news was quickly picked up on by transfer guru Tancredi Palmeri.

"BOOM! Barcelona and Coutinho have reached an agreement according to Radio Catalunya," he said on Twitter.

Previous reports have claimed Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez all want the player signed.

Barcelona are aiming to strengthen after missing out on the La Liga title and Champions League to Real Madrid last season.

Should the deal go ahead, then Coutinho will become one of the most expensive players in Barcelona's history.
