RUSSIA CLAIMS THAT ITS AIRSTRIKES MIGHT HAVE KILLED ISIS LEADER ABU BAKR AL BAGHDADI

Russia military on Friday claimed that it's airstrikes in Syria might have killed ISIS leader. Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi the self-declared caliph of the Islamic States was one of the world’s most wanted terrorists.

If Russia's claim is confirmed,then it would be a major military achievement for the Russian military.In a report issued to the Russian news agency,the ministry of defense said that on 28 May Russian Jets bombed a meeting of Isis leaders,which was being held outside Raqqa,the groups defacto capital.Intelligence reports had tipped that Mr Al Baghdadi was in the meeting and was probably killed.

A spokesman for the United States-led military coalition fighting the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, said that they could not confirm those reports.

At a press briefing,Kremlins spokesman, Dmitry S. Peskov, declined to elaborate on the report, directing questions about Mr. Baghdadi and the airstrike to the Defense Ministry.

Raqqa has been under attack in recent weeks: American-backed Kurdish and Arab forces, have been closing in on the ground, and an American-led coalition of Western and Arab air forces has attacked the city from above.
