Stuntman John Bernecker  dies after fatal fall from a 25-foot balcony and landed on a concrete floor while shooting a new scene of The Walking Dead.

John Bernecker suffered a serious head injury that required him to be transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter.

The 33-year old was airlifted to the hospital in Atlanta on Wednesday,his, life support machine was turned off a day later while surrounded by his friends, family and his girlfriend Jennifer Cocker. The filming which was taking place in Senoia, 35 miles south of Atlanta was suspended.

According to Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk, Bernecker died at Atlanta Medical Center on Wednesday evening as a result of blunt force trauma due to his fall but was still on life supporting machine before it was turned off.

The swelling in John's brain had appeared to go down after the horrific accident but then flared back up again, sources told TMZ.

John was said to be 'brain dead and on life support' after he lost his footing while rehearsing a scene with an actor.

Friends paid their condolences to his stuntwoman girlfriend Jennifer on social media after learning the tragic news.

'So sorry for your loss and for the whole Bernecker family. There’s probably nothing anyone can say to make things better. Just be close to one another and try to power through this,' one wrote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,high falls were listed among John Bernecker specialities on his professional resume.

Bernecker's previous stunt credits include a role in 22 Jump Street, Game Night, Black Panther, 24: Legacy, Claws, and K.C. Undercover.

He's also done stunt work for Logan, The Fate Of The Furious, and Fantastic Four.

Bernecker also had several acting credits to his name.

The stuntman also featured in a number of programs including Freerunner, and True Detective, according to his IMDB page.
